Brodeur and Roberto, I think the owner of Roberto stopped paying attention. Gonna keep trying I suppose.

Getzlaf for any of Nabokov, Lundqvist, Luongo, Brodeur, Miller, Kipper... if I needed a goalie, those would all be fair deals.

Any of you guys playing in daily fantasy hockey contests at either FantasySportsLive or Snapdraft? I had only played baseball and football until the past few days, but I'm finding that I really like their multiplayer hockey contests. Both sites have 10 players contests, and Snapdraft has 15, 20, and 25 player contests too. The contests range from $1 up to $10 (they have higher buy-ins, but only for smaller # of players). You pick a lineup within a salary cap, and win (or lose) that day. Deposits are via credit card or Paypal. Withdrawals are by check (and I think by Paypal at FantasySportsLive too). I'd love to see both sites start getting more traffic in these contests like they do in other sports. The top players are winning $10K-$20K/month overall (gross), but a pretty limited # of multiplayer hockey contests are filling each day, especially at FSL. That's a shame, since I like FSL's format better, and they'll run the 10 player contests even when there's an overlay because the contest didn't fill.

Fan Duel will have multi-player contests soon. FSL is the only site offering overlays on small multis. Some of the fringe sites offer "guaranteed" prizes on their weekly big contests (usually only during football).

FSL tries to cover itself by limiting the amount of multis, but if traffic picks up they will put more in the lobby.

Yikes. Interest starting to fizzle out on Fantasy Hockey.

Trade deadlines are approaching. Anyone out there we should be targeting? I'm going to put together a batch of offers over the next few days. I still think some of the DET players (Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom) and CGY players (Iginla, Kiprusoff) are good trade targets.

If I had someone like Ray Miller, I'd be trying to sell high and move him at this point.

Anyone else have thoughts to share?

I'd like to sell high on Miller but my other goaltenders are just so mediocre and locked in time shares I have pretty much no choice but to hold onto him, unless I get a great deal involving a goalie.

Okay, lets get this thread going again. Trade deadline on Yahoo looms at March 14th I believe.

An owner in a keeper league of mine has been pestering me all season long with trades. It's a 12 team league, and keeper rules are you keep 5 players: 3 forwards, 1 defenceman, 1 goalie (must keep 5). There is zero cost of keeping these players, i.e. no future picks, nothing. Can be kept for any number of years.

Team A sending to B: Ovechkin, Weber, and Dubinsky
Team B sending to A: Heatley, Green, J. Staal

Offensive categories are G/A/plusminus/PIM/PPP/GWG/SOG/FW (faceoffs won).

If it makes any difference, A is in 3rd right now and his current keepers would probably be Ovechkin, Semin, Weber and Dubinsky/Connolly (ignoring goalies). B is in 4th right now and his current keepers would probably be Heatley, Green, and two of Pavelski/Bergeron/Alfredsson/Zajac/J. Staal.

My thoughts/reveal:

Spoiler:
I am team B, being offered Ovechkin. A pretty ridiculous carrot being dangled in front of this rabbit's face...

Ovechkin is obviously the number one forward to keep and is so so young. Would be an annual easy choice to keep and is dominating on offense with a great offensive squad around him. However, I'd have to give up the number one defensemen by a longshot in Green, plus Heatley on top of that. Weber would obviously become my keeper, the rest of my D aren't good enough to consider. And then I have to choose two other forwards out of that mess I listed above, plus a few others like Gagne and Langenbrunner. And Staal actually has quite decent utility in this league thanks to FW as a category.

I just don't know if I can pass up the opportunity to have Ovechkin in a costless keeper league, and this manager has been offering me him in deals all season long.

Is he a Pens fan? In a keeper league you have to pick up Ovechkin.

since it's after the fact now, I accepted the trade fairly quickly. J. Staal actually has some pretty decent utility in this league because he wins a ton of faceoffs, plays on a good team and thus has a good +/-, and gets decent penalty minutes. Far more useful than Dubinsky. Also taking a big downgrade from Green to Weber, although I feel Weber is underperforming a bit this year and is still a borderline top-5 defenceman, so I'm not left without an elite D-man keeper. And then I get the upgrade from Heatley to Ovechkin. Ovechkin now becomes the cornerstone of my team for years to come.

I may have given up a bit of premium on this year with Green, but I think in the long run thanks to Ovechkin, this trade will benefit me more than it will hurt me.

Keepers now look something like Ovechkin, Zajac and Langenbrunner/Pavelski/Bergeron/Alfredsson, Weber, and Miller.

wow, hard to pass ovie up in a keeper league, I think I would definitely go with that deal, since hes such a stut, even tough you are giving up your fair share of players, but I think weber is underrated due to playing in a small market. all in all I think you are better of to take that deal.

Is Cam Ward droppable at this point?

He's just wasting away on my bench. It's a keeper league, and I'm obviously not going to keep him since my goalie I'll be keeping is Luongo. For whatever goddamn reason, Carolina or the NHL or Yahoo doesn't put him on the IR, so my hands are really tied. It's the playoffs right now, it's not like he's going to be back, and I could really use the spot over the next two weeks.

I'm experiencing the same problem with Marc Savard and Ward on the same team in a keeper league. Problem is, Ward's my best keeper goalie (Anderson, Price are my other two) so I can't just drop him, and until the definite word comes out that Savard is toast for the year, I can't drop him at the risk of him getting back this year, or if a weaker team who needs a keeper picks up him. I need the IR status!

I need some more advice for my 3 vs. 6 seed playoff matchup.

Is James Neal droppable in the following situation? I think that all the facts are pointing towards yes, but I just can't seem to pull the trigger.

It's a H2H league, and for all four of Dallas' games this week (SJ, PHI, OTT and PHX), I would have a better body to fit into my linup. This means that he's effectively earning me no points this week sitting on my bench. The guy is a 25-goal scorer this season, but he's been absolute dog**** since Christmas.

In his place, I could steam a bunch of players throughout the week, such as Milan Hejduk (games on Tues/Weds where I have open spots). These H2H matchups are all about maximizing games played and accumulating stats.

Comparable LW's available on the waiver wire are Avery, Bertuzzi, Sturm, Huselius and Moulson.

I think he would be snapped up by someone, but from my perspective, it's the right move. Isn't it?

****ing ridiculous

Ovechkin's dumb hit and subsequent 15 PIM on Sunday managed to screw me out of points needed in a H2H league that I'm racing for top prize, and now he's gone for two out of three games this week for me in the one league I have him which starts playoffs

I pulled the trigger on this move, and so far it looks like I made the right decision. Grabbed Hejduk for last nights game where he got a goal, +2 and a SOG, plus I get him for tonight against the Flames. Dropped him for Antii Miettinen (sp?) who plays Thursday, Friday and has an all-important Sunday game.

All in all, I drop Neal, lose zero games and gain 5 forward games played. Icing on the cake is that Neal wasn't even claimed off waivers.

That's one thing I need to learn to do better... pulling the trigger on fantasy deadweight earlier.

I guess we're very close to being able to lock this thread... finally!

One more quick question. In one of my leagues, we're allowed to keep a player who has played less than 25 NHL games at the end of the season. Any good suggestions? Presumably they have to be someone who is already in Yahoo's player universe yet won't have played 25 games by the end of the year. Not many options.

Jordan Eberle was picked up by someone, I scooped Jonathan Bernier as a temporary placeholder. Nazem Kadri is still out there. Any other suggestions?

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER.
