Hi,

I'm experimenting with 2 ranges in SBvsBTN one range containing AT/AJ/KQ and the other containing AJ/KQ at a low frequency then removing AT.

Range 1 with AT/AJ/KQ

Range 2 with AT removed and AJ/KQ at a small frequency

We're allowed to bet range on nearly every board with this range and saw educa poker using the 2nd range in his simulations which makes me think he isn't 3betting AT vs BTN in SB.

Should we be doing this to make a simple unexploitable cbetting strategy across most boards?

Talking about vs tough opponents who are defending correctly

If AT is still +ev as a 3 bet then you should still do it

I think so too. Trying to figure out why he removed AT and put the AJ/KQ frequency at 20%~ though.

Makes more sense vs CO though

It's interesting that removing what seems to be a relatively small part can affect your check/bet frequency so drastically, but removing AT from your 3bet range would not be correct here. I'd expect that removing roughly an equal amount of any of our "brick" combos from similar board textures would do the same, and we obviously can't just cherry pick hands that we missed the flop with every time (would be nice!)

ATO kinda wtvr. I don't usually 3b it. Kq and ajo are clearly good 3b tho. Does educa ever mix in flats? Otherwise not really sure why the axs is so mixed either

Yeah its interesting. He mixes flats if the sizing is smaller.

AT vs BTN 3x is fold, KQ/AJ are 3b
AT/KQ/AJ vs BTN 2.5x are all 3b
AT vs BTN minraise is call KQ/AJ are 3b

Aesah you're right about that the equities on this board are running closer and we're having 2 overcards more frequently with range 1. Which means we have to be checking more. But it seems impossible to have an idea of this while playing.

If the boards K52 for example we're betting range with both

Yeah. So as to the practical question of "should i just not 3bet ATo" well now you probably have to check notably more often on Axx boards

FWIW, that's also how Snowie plays at 100NL (albeit with some mixing for AT). It's definitely a "kinda wtvr" kind of hand in those spots, so you can make your pre-flop decision based on reads/stats on villain, or just pick a fixed strat/range for all 3 sizes, and just learn how your fixed range affects your post-flop frequencies in 3-bet pots.
