The EV difference by using different ranges The EV difference by using different ranges

I’ve increased my study significantly, and plan to continue to do more in 2019.

I’ve started using a solver, and I believe to get the most out of it I need to stick to a predefined set of ranges in most spots.

Over the last year, I’ve been rotating between the Upswing lab ranges and the poker Snowie ranges.

Does anyone have a view as to which is superior? And how much EV difference is their between using reasonably well constructed ranges?

Snowie seems more suitable for microstakes games as they are tighter and defend/call less (taking into account higher take). EV difference would be such a difficult thing to provide you and I doubt anyone could help you there.

you should be using ranges that are the averages of your population

I use upswing, slightly altered towards snowie and slightly amended for population.

Snowie likes Ax blockers in LP, for instance, while upswing favors suited double gappers in LP. Finally, population calls wider than optimal so both of these tendencies are often moot.

Are there any articles or resources you’d recommend for creating or adjusting your ranges to account for this?

Small adjustments have significant effects. Altering your game and seeing the +EV of those adjustments is what poker theory is all about. Any article or resource can not do this for you, it is up to you.

If your players on your site or in your casino call wider with certain hands preflop, what adjustment to an otherwise supposed optimal preflop strategy are in order? What about flop c-bets? What about river value bets?

If your opponents fold too often preflop, what adjustments are in order? What about c-bets? What about river value bets?

What if your opponents all play upswing ranges preflop, but underbluff postflop. What if they only ever c-bet value hands or value draws? What if they *almost always* bet when you check?

i think if you look up "population tendencies 6 max" you might find explanations on how to do it. in pt4 you have to make a "all players" report and exclude hero.

If you use HEM, you can make an alias of several high volume regs, or just a bunch of randoms, and look at their stats in much the same way you might look at your own.

I did this recently and learned that a lot of the nits are only opening 10% UTG, but some of the LAGregs are going with over 20%. The big difference in their ranges will obviously have major effects on solver outputs.
