Hello,

I need some basic guidelines with what type of hands I can feel comfortable committing myself on the flop with different SPRs.

For instance Top pair, two pair, bottom set vs 1/2 people

Thanks

That question depends more on the flop texture relative to the preflop betting and player characteristics than just your hand. These considerations allow you to construct plausible ranges for the other players' hands. You pay particular attention to possible hands that beat you with high probability, and for which the player knows he beats you with high probability. These can cost you your stack. You pay equal attention to the opposite situation, hands that will allow you to take the other players' stacks.

Once you get beyond those hands to the more common hands, stack size relative to pot doesn't matter much.

To elaborate on what AaronBrown is saying the key factor is how likely it is you are ahead (given your opponent's range). If your opponent's range is KK, AA + 10% bluffs in a certain spot then your TPTK isn't good enough even if SPR=1.

On the other hand say you raise AQ OTB get called by a reg in the BB and the flop comes Q93, with or without a flushdraw. If you assume the BB would 3bet 99 but fold Q9s (a reasonable assumption against many aggressive small stakes regulars) then your hand is probably good enough to stack off with 100BB deep (SPR~14). Reason being that you're beat only around 2-3% of the time.
