Playing poker in Germany? Playing poker in Germany?

I’ve seen a lot of people from Germany suggesting to move to Austria or just don’t play poker if you haven’t planned to leave Germany. It’s because of a new law, that says you can’t play more than 4 tables, play with more than 1000€/ per month, can’t play above 1€/2€ games, can’t select tables and positions and you have to pay 5,3% of extra taxes for every buy jn ( which I think lead to a very high rake) Many poker websites also banned German players since this law. Do you think I still could try making a living with poker, or is the effort senseless? Would live poker be an alternative? If not, what is with sites like arc?

Option A: Play unregulated sites and apps. Use Crypto. Accept the risk of being scammed or cheated. Accept ridiculous rake. Accept terrible softwares. Accept the risk of being caught by tax authorities. If your down with that, just stay and play.

Option B: Move and play all sites you want, no restrictions at all.

I see absolutey no chance to make a good living from online poker in Germany otherwise. Live poker an option, yes, but need huge roll and decent games that are basically running 24/7.

Sorry for your government being so ******ed. Idk why politicians think making people lose more money faster from gambling helps anyone, especially not problem gamblers.

thank you very much

How safe are those crypto sites like coinpoker? Is there any way to prevent getting scammed?
I think I’m most likely to take this option.

Secondly, what do you think how big the bankroll should be for live poker?

Saftey: Nothing you can really do other than observe play and talk to other players if they experienced the same issues. Not talking bad beats or variance (and variance can play an absurd amount of tricks on your mind ) but when something seems too fishy, chances are it is. In the end, you have to trust sites, that they do everything they can to prevent players from getting cheated and scammed, to ban bots, to block RTA use and such. But that can happen on any site.

Overall I would guess it is as safe as it can be to play on an unregulated site that doesn't even use KYC or any identification at all. And ofc there are quite a bit of options, ACR, BOL, CP and then apps, where everything comes to down to how much you trust your agent/club owner.

BR for live poker: really hard to say. If you plan on making some bucks on the side, grinding 1-2 in super soft line ups, prolly 2k, aka 10 buy ins is already enough. If you plan on grinding profesionally 5-10+, I wouldn't want to have less than 50k for poker only, + some months of life expenses on the side. So the span is huge. If you'd ask me to give you a rough estimation, I would say 35-50 buy ins is quite enough for all live games. But that is just me. There are so many factors which play a role, it makes it basically impossible to name an accurate number of buy ins.
