1) alpha = bet size/(bet size+pot size) = value/bluff (ratio between value combos and bluff combos) 2) 1-alpha = Minimum defense frequency
Yeah those look good another way to look at alpha is risk/risk+reward.
I'm not sure what you mean by = value/bluff but yeah that is the formula for ratio between value combos and bluff combos I don't know how to relate that to alpha if that is what you were trying to do.
yeah your alpha is correct but most often defined as:
alpha: bet/pot / ( bet/pot + 1 ) or S / S+1 where S = bet/pot
And it just means how often this bet must succeed in order for your EV to be 0. If it succeeds more you profit, if less, you loose money.
MDF is always 1-a ( or 1 / S+1) if we defend less then this number our opponent can bet/raise his hole range and auto profit.
I dont think the value/bluff ratio has much to do with alpha. value:bluff is just how a range is divided. If you have a 1:2 ratio (for instance on the flop as pfr) it means you have twice as many bluffs compared to value hands. I dont see what alpha has to do with this though.
