Double Stack Tourneys, who has the edge? Double Stack Tourneys, who has the edge?

A buddy and I were talking MTT (low to mid stakes) strategy and an interesting point comes up.

Who has the advantage in the double starting stack tourneys? 3000 start chips vs 1500?

The DONK, the TAG, the LAG, the NIT.
The double stack tourneys are typically full of SAT qualifiers.

My theory is a good solid player has the edge in the double stack (3000 start) because they will have more time to take advantage of lesser skill players, and more time to wait for solid hands while the Donks kill themselves off.

My buddy thinks that a solid player has and edge in normal stack (1500 start) because the lesser skill players soon find themselves in trouble from excessive limping, and that the double stack gives them more chances to get lucky.

Also how should a player adjust their strategy double stack vs normal stack.

I would love to hear some debate on this.

I play a TAG but do change gears as needed, bubble, shortstack etc.

Thanks

Well this is my first reply to a question on this forum, so take it for what it's worth. I have wondered this myself and have since started playing more double stacks and ZERO turbo SNGs, simply because I feel they are not conducive to my style of play - which I consider fairly solid and "by the book." It has proven effective so far; I have more than doubled my deposit at FT simply by playing in the "right" games and never buying in for more than 10% of my FT bankroll. I agree with you in that my relatively tight/aggressive style of play works better in a slower blinds/larger stacks format.

LAG definitely likes the double stack. The more chips in relation to the blinds the more condusive the game can be to a LAG.
