Last night I was in a 27 person live MTT game. First hand of heads up action. The blinds just went up to 4000/8000 one or two hands ago. The opponent had 24,000 in chips left. I had about 80K in chips.

The opponent was the dealer and pushed all in. I have 8K in the pot already and it would cost me 16K more to call his all-in bet. If I call, then I stand to win 48K and knock him out of the tournament or about 3:1 on my money. If I lose, our chip stacks will be essentially the same.

I know that just about any two cards has about a 1:3 chance against any hand including the best possible hands that could be dealt. Is this a scenario where I should be calling with any two cards? Call with any cards but the worse possible combinations? Or anything that is even marginal going so far as to call with something like Q-3 os? Intellectually, I think I probably should be calling with just about anything except maybe the worst hands, but I didn't want to double up my opponent at that point.

With a total of about 13 bb's left in the game, there is no poker left to be played. Only options left are to shove/call/fold preflop and as you are offered to call with favorable odds, you might as well take the offer.

you could disagree and say since you are chipleader you can wait 1 hand if you get totally garbage like 72, 63, 83 ****ty hands. but J-high is deff call from me and maybe even T-high if you have a reasonable kicker like a 7 to a 9

you might as well get ur chips in with a edge, we know villain is shoving 100% here.
