Will Stars ending DoNs increase traffic on Merge? Will Stars ending DoNs increase traffic on Merge?

Just wondering if RPM, or Merge in general, should expect an increase in SNG traffic with Stars no longer offering DoN Tournaments? I don't play these personally. I think they should aggresively advertise these to bring in more traffic. These same players will still play regular tournaments and cash games also, so it should benefit more than just the DoN traffic.

Thoughts anyone? Do you think traffic will noticeably increase? If so, do you think there will be more overall tournament and cash traffic, or only DoN's will see an increase?

I earned Supernova Elite on Stars last year playing 95% DoNs and am now probably moving to RPM to play DoNs and if there are a couple more high volume regs like myself, then DoN traffic will increase immensely. Hopefully some casual players from Stars follow as well. I'm not sure if cash games will see an increase, but for tournaments (or specifically DoNs), I would say it's a definite yes.

Good luck with the tree fiddy player pool over there....

I've already tested out DoNs with a couple sessions and the traffic really is not that bad. I was able to mix about all the $30-$80 DoNs I could handle (only about 12 until I get more used to the software) and it didn't take that long to load. Now that DoNs are done on Stars I would expect traffic to pick up even more.

How long did it take you to load 12 tables?

Less than 5 minutes?

I'm sure he can answer better but DoN traffic is probably a lot better than most people realize on Merge. It cuts into the regular SNG traffic, but I regularly see multiple DoN's registering at the same time(at each level).

FWIW, I figure there will be regs making the move, I'm more curious if recreational players will follow. Probably won't see much of an impact in the Cash Games, but the overall SNG's should see a bit of a change, IMO.

I don't remember for sure, but I think probably closer to 8-10 minutes. It was also during primetime registering hours. I'm not too worried about getting in volume from about Noon to 1AM EST, but traffic isn't quite there yet to make it worthwhile playing outside those times.

MegaFossil, please keep us updated on what type of traffic increase we see. I'm curious to know. I will keep an eye on them as well, but as someone who actually plays them you will know better than anyone.

If you can put in SNE elite type volume on RPM playing DON's, or hell even 1/2 of it, I bet you get very close to the equivalent RB % that SNE gives you.

RPM definitely has good Promo's/Bonus's. I'm sure that a lot of DoN players will make the change to Merge. Especially US residents as they really do not have another option. Most won't consider Cake IMO.

Once they play at Merge then it could be another boost in traffic. I would guess most will have a good experience and be pleasantly surprised by a lot of things on Merge. Once they do this, word of mouth can be one of the best ways of advertising. In fact, thats why I chose RPM. A lot of players were constantly giving RPM props. Its hard to ignore that.

Indirectly this may affect all traffic on Merge. Hopefully players making a move to Merge will pick a good skin like RPM so that they do have a great experience. I guess time will tell, but I will definitely keep my eye on it. It may be hard to tell though, because Merge is growing more than anyother site even before Stars stopped DoN's.

Only inform(bold) casual players will move, unmindful players will stay with the flock of sheep Imo

Thats fine by me. Those same players are the 20+ table nits . I'd rather them not come play at Merge or RPM anyway
