Tournament tickets - BE CAREFUL!!! Tournament tickets - BE CAREFUL!!!

If you have a tourny coupon, be very damn careful when you sign up. I just entered the 100k guaranteed and clicked the wrong button. $109 out of my account and support says they cannot do anything about it. Just a cheerful "you can always use it next week!" and a "I apologize for the inconvenience." I find that both insulting and in poor form.

There is absolutely no reason why once this mistake is identified, it cannot be remedied. None. It is an easy mistake to make and to have this default to using cash when most of the players would have only gotten to this tourn from a satellite is ridiculous. I have been nothing but impressed with RPM, but this has soured me.

So now I am in a tournament that is way above my level, tilted, and my bankroll has a huge (relative) chunk out of it. Thanks.

While I can empathize with your frustration, they (RPM/Merge) can't justifiably change a tournament ticket for cash for one person, or else-

1. They would have to do it for everyone (or at least people who claim to make a similar mistake).
2. They would open themselves up to people possibly abusing the feature.

This opens up the debate, what if I had won at blackjack?

It can spiral on and on, but it basically would allow players to use the $109 for things other than what it's originally intended for = abuse.

i dont get it

Ok to simplify....

Are you be allowed to use the $109 for something other than the $109 100k guaranteed as per the current T&C? = no

Could you possibly circumvent this if allowed to be reimbursed cash for your tournament ticket = yes

Yeah but if you emailed them after you registered with cash and tried to unregister but couldn't because unregister was no longer available, should they just refund the cash for the ticket? I don't understand the angle here. You paid $109 but would rather use the ticket. The ticket is worth the tournament.

Either way your either paying cash or using the ticket. You don't gain anything by them refunding the tourney and removing your ticket.

Edit:

I mean if you are already registered and are playing the tourney. Not register then get ticket refunded to get extra cash.

abuse is like exploiting pokerstars vpp system like that one guy did during the special micro stakes promotion by flipping at 10nl for over 100% rakeback

nobody is gaining anything in this scenario
06-26-2011 , 06:10 PM
I get what you are saying, KS, and I agree that if AFTER the tournament, one was to request a refund, it should be denied.

That is not the case here. I noticed this just as the tournament was starting, switched into panic mode "no, no, no, nooo!!!" and started trying to deregister. Too late. To top it off, my table would not open for a good 10 minutes. So I am online with support, explaining my issue, watching the other players stacks go up an down, stuck for an entry fee, and unable to play. I had to restart the software (at supports suggestion) to get my table to appear. If that's abuse, so be it.
06-26-2011 , 09:47 PM
You should be able to have them take the 109 ticket from you and reimburse the $109. They are not being abused in this scenario and it's extremely obvious that you meant to use the ticket when you had it.

I kinda doubt I am the first one that has happened to, as well

Seems to me...pre black friday, this would NOT be a problem ( just my .02). RPM was all about customer service...since...... I think they have grown a lil too big for the support staff currently and the players are the ones slipping through the cracks. I see players leaving RPM everyday. I myself have played on RPM less lately.........My withdraw pending for almost 6 weeks now...my Mails to RPM going unanswered repeatedly. Lets all hope this legislation passes soon and it's like Party poker circa 05! I miss those days!!!!!

I dunno, reddragon. I think in theory they are still about cust service, but you are right in that things are slipping through the cracks. I have had several emails go unanswered in the last few weeks as well. I have no pre-BF reference so I cannot comment, but as I look back through various threads it seems like since June 1st, the dissatisfaction comments have risen. And where there are transcripts, you see "sorry for the inconvenience" over and over. Now, I see this in the Carbon and other skins thread too, so maybe Merge put the hammer down on the skins and there hands are tied. Shrug.

I still think RPM is the best skin on the network, but I am going to have to pull back too. Not that it matters, I am just a micro-rec-grinder-fish trying to rebuild a roll so I can get back to my normal pre-BF play. Not even a blip on the radar and this has knocked me back down a level with my BRM and I really am not motivated to rebuild at this point. I was hoping they'd do the right thing here, but I guess I'm stuck.

Maybe if it were not for the fact that they usually cannot get a 1000 people to cover the guarantee for the 100k, they would send you the $109 and just take away the ticket.

really was pulling for you coke_man to get this taken care of, seems like an honest mistake. Guess it isnt gonna happen. Please let us know if you cash or win this beast this Sunday. glgl

Maybe they can let you xfer it so you can sell the ticket or something? I know it's not normal, but I think they should make an exception in this case.

Sorry RPM, but I have to agree 100% with this. Before Black Friday RPM was offered the best support and the best value in Online Poker. I agree, that this would have most likely been taken care of ASAP pre-Black Friday.

Nothing to really update on this, but I appreciate the support guys.

Folks,

The only tickets we have exchanged for cash in the past are tickets that you may have earned through our promotions. However, that has been discontinued for months. We cannot exchange tickets for cash if the ticket is won in a satellite tournament. The value of the ticket is made up from the prize pool, and the prize pool is made up from players across the network, not just RPM Poker. Were we to exchange that ticket for cash, it may be a convenience for the player, but it will cost RPM Poker the full value of the ticket.

When registering for tournaments, please take an extra few seconds and make sure that you are registering with the method you prefer, whether it be points, coupon, or cash.

RPM Seth
Can you let him transfer the ticket so he can sell it to someone else?

I don't get the advantage to this unless he could sell it for less, which it would basically be undercutting RPM.. if someone could buy the ticket, RPM gets none of the $109s it cost to enter a Sudnay Guaranteed or any $109 tournament.. all they receive is a ticket.

I could buy the ticket for like $50 and pay $50 into the Sunday Guar instead of $109.

Although I do believe we should be able to turn in these tickets for cash.. (Even though I think this could still be costing RPM money.. We should have the option to play a tournament or get straight cash for the ticket we earned..)
I wish they had Tournament Dollars like Full Tilt..

his advantage would be getting his $109 back, half his roll is now "stuck" in a tournament ticket

I'd happily sell this ticket at a discount. Too hard for me to get a free Sunday to play. I'm guessing by the time I get another chance to play in the 100k Sunday Tourn, it will have been discontinued or some such nonsense.

I don't even know how to tell if I have a coupon. Something came up the other day, said I had something. Have no idea what to do to use it.
