What is it?

Chessbase says that the new side career "is big, and he will be very visible in the news for the rest of the year (at least)."

Yes, angry and a bit thuggish, though quite posh. It also seems his new wardrobe makes it difficult to get a close shave.

In some of the pictures he looks passable, at least.

I just hope he prefers to chess to modelling; he's better at the former.

Hey xxx,

I wanted to let you know some exciting news:

Chess.com is working really hard this month to help put together a very special chess event: G-Star's Raw World Chess Challenge! Many of you may have heard of #1 chess players Magnus Carlsen's new role as model for G-Star's fall collection.

To kick things off, Magnus Carlsen will be playing a one-day vote chess match against the world on September 10th!! This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for you to participate in a match with the world's best chess player... and have a chance to beat him!

As the #1 chess site, Chess.com has been asked by G-Star to partner on this project and develop the technical platform for the event. To receive further information about this event, go to the main match site and enter your email address to receive updates and register for this epic event.

Presenting: The World Team
Three world-class Grandmasters - Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France, Hikaru Nakamura of the United States, and Judit Polgar of Hungary - have been selected by Garry Kasparov to represent the World Team. They will be helping you try to beat Magnus by making real-time suggestions on every move.

When asked for his thoughts on the RAW World Chess Challenge, Garry Kasparov said: "I am acting as the ambassador of this Challenge because I am attracted by the unique character of the RAW World Chess Challenge. There isn't any sport I know of that gives the entire world the opportunity to play the world's best simultaneously. Magnus is one of the greatest talents ever. This game will be a true challenge for him. Let's see who wins: he or the World."

You will be able to find more details on the RAW World Chess Challenge shortly, both on the official site and in the Chess.com news section.

More info to come...

Until then, enjoy your games!

yeah 1 minute, sounds fairly intense.

Should be interesting. Cool to see that Nakamura is involved.

Any predictions?

It'll be interesting to see how the "world" votes. Do they just always take Nakamura's move, or will there be enough people with engines running to always take whichever move rates best according to Rybka?

I wish they could delete every suggestion that mentions Rybka/OtherEngine.
I think most of the time people would go with the experts' suggestion.
When the experts disagree I'm not sure whom would get more votes, maybe Polgar would be the most convincing.

I think most people would vote for Nakamura's suggestion then.

Which is not a good sign for the World because the times we deviate from Naka's suggestion could mess up the flow of the game, and the more times we stick to his suggestion, the closer it would be to a Carlsen vs Naka game, another bad sign.
