Just published and Magnus occupies the top spot with a whopping 2872 rating. Wow. He's 62 points ahead of the world #2, Kramnik, and 63 points ahead of #3, Aronian.

When was the last time a player was dominating the world like this? Kasparov in the mid 90's? Fischer in the early 70's?

Here, at his peak, Kasparov is 80 points ahead of the World #2 and 91 points ahead of the #3. (and as you might guess, it was Anand and Kramnik)

So it's been over a decade. Magnus has a ton of room to grow also, which is scary.

The real question is how long until Magnus quits chess (mostly) out of boredom.

I'm guessing maybe even before he turns 30.

Yeah the weird thing about him being so strong so young is it'd be very disappointing if he doesn't crush in his late-20s and 30s, too. It's kind of like an NFL player who has a GOAT-level sophomore season where you're crossing your fingers that their career doesn't get sidetracked by injury or jail time or whatever.
