-Each "game" (round) consists in a 5 game match. In order to do the pairings, final result will be 1-0 or 1/2-1/2, no matter if it was 3-0, or 3.5-1.5. or whatever.
-Although, I suggest playing always the 5 games in order to have better info about the strenght of the players for a probable next (third) tournament. (Example, player B lost 5-0 against A, and C lost 2.5-1.5 against A, we can asume A>C>B for the next tournament first round pairing).
-The idea of an odd number (like 5) is to respect the colors after the pairing result. If player A is white against B, then A starts with white and plays 3 games W, 2 games B.
Opinions?
P.S: ah, in order to make a swiss tournament work, we would have to be a little more strict about players not responding, for not delaying to much the next round.
bobby fischer wrote a letter to FIDE saying he wanted the candidates was matches
so there would be no collusion against him like there was in 1962 which made him not participate in protest the next candiates that spassky won and defeated petrosian
im big fan of matches
the only advantage of a swiss tournament is the players that lose first round will play many more games having more fun(which is the ultimate goal of these tournaments)
but its much more complicated to organize you guys decide
