why dont someone in this forum like an old goat here organize a chess tournament that can be held on FICS(http://www.freechess.org/) so nobody needs to pay account like on ICC or playchess and everyone can play. FICS is simple you just register and download a small software. then meet the player for his nick that we will find here in this post. and challenge him at a give time.


i am kinda new but i can organize. have 11 years experience in chess tournaments wont be hard


the first thing we need is a list of players that will play. the ones that will play put name and email and nick on FICS.

then we make the pairings. define the system. explain every rule



makes the pairings. and every players find themselves in a perid of 2 or 3 days or something like this... it can be small matches of 3 or 5 blitz game between everyplayer. and they have 2 or 3 days to come here and BOTH confirm the results with prints screens. so nobody will steal anything..


Personally i think the best idea is:

knock out tournaments with

5 blitz game matches: 3 min + 1 second per move

if the result is 2,5 - 2,5

then play 1 forever till one of them end up with a winner.

5 games is enough to make the luck factor gone.


but we demand print screens posted of every win just to be sure who actually won. otherwise it wont be valid.





it might take a month or two to end if theres a lot of people. but will be very fun. .


the first round can be paired based in alphabetic order as we dont have ratings... so the A faces the Z. etc.

I'm all in, but wouldn't there be a better way to do this? On redhotpawn.com you can set up tournaments that are all set up through the site. I am a member, however, so not sure if you can play in tourneys as a non-member.

Still, I'll go your route too if there's interest.

fics is the third better and the better free

actually we can do it here and post here there's no reason to use their system to make tournaments we can do it manually easily

just by posting here the

the tables
the crosstables
the pairings

and the players will find a way to play against each other.
as a pattern, i suggest FICS.

but if both have playchess or ICC they could play there.

what will be very important is to post the results here as a print screen both players confirming each game so wont have frauds

next steps:

1° get more 18 players all in make it 32

2° make the pairings

3° warn every player by private message

4° try to replace players that dont answer in a period of 3 days

5° decide the latests details before start playing

6° post here the results

7° make the pairings of following round.

etc

etc
