I'm going for 1. Ng6+ Kh7 2. Rc6 (2.-Rc8 3. Ne7) with the idea of 3. Nf4 or 3. Nh4 threatening 4. Rxh6+. Probably not it, but I woke up 2hrs ago so I'm not up to calculating it all out.

Haha, after checking with an engine, 3. Nh4 Qd2 duh. Missed that this one would fail, so I don't get full credit.

yeah Re4+ is necessary, thought it was cute that Rxe3 didn't work here

it continued Kf5?! Rxe3 f2+??, I don't know if he thought he had seen something or just went to pieces after blundering the first half point (he had previously missed #2 and had been a piece up for about 20 moves), I don't think he was trying to flag me

hello chess and board games forum,

im a chess newb but a few people where i live play and i decided to try to pick it up. got slaughtered my first two games but was doing decent in this game until this part and i think i made some big mistakes, im white. any help would be appreciated.

unfortunately no, the app we use on our phone doesnt have that ability. his last move was a8 to e8.

If it's your move then take his queen. Rxe3.

If you just played Ra1-e1 that's a bad move and he can just take your rook. You can't take back because it would lead to rook takes rook checkmate.
