Hey guys. Dire mentioned possibly joining the Team 45 45 League in the BBV thread and I thought I'd see if there's any interest in forming a 2+2 team. Obviously it'd be great if we could get even more than one team. I think it'd be a lot of fun and could be really beneficial analyzing each others' games, etc. The league website is here http://team4545league.org/index.html

The deadline: Oct 20th

How to join: Play 20 rated, standard games asap and apply for 45 45 membership. We'd need at least 4 people to play but can have up to 6 people (2 subs). We also would need everyone to be members before the 20th so we could sign up a team by the deadline.

What: Play one rated game with a time control of 45 45 per week for 6 weeks (or up to 4 more when we make the playoffs after crushing all comers).

Who: Everyone! There are a ton of sections based on the average rating for the team so everyone could find a team where they should get good games. U2200/U2000/U1800/U1600/U1400/U1200

Am likely keen. My FICS rating is about 1700, can probably add about 50-100 points to that if I always play sober. Not sure how that translates into other ratings. If there are enough other 2+2ers at a similar level then I'm in.

I'm in, gotta rejoin ICC and play the 20 games first though.

Hi, I'd be very interested in being a participant in the league. I last played in a serious live tournament about three years ago, and I was looking to get back into playing again regularly. I am a USCF 1660 and just about the same on FICS. I'm not sure if this is nearly strong enough to be part of the team, but I would def. be interested.

Can the games we play on ICC in order to qualify be anything, or do they have to be 45/45?

You have to play 20 "rated standard" games. This means the game must have a time control of 15 0 or longer. Be careful because I assume (don't know for sure) that the 15 0 pool probably won't count. What this means is that clicking the "15" in the blue circle near the top of Dasher won't get you what you need. Click the magnifying glass and check "15 0 rated standard" or set whatever time control you want to play as long as it's at least 15 0.

I doubt that the 15-minute pool games would count, b/c there is a separate 15-minute rating.

Gotta seek for at least 15 0 imo.

If you come up with a really cool nickname then I am probably in.

I just signed up to ICC and played a 15/15 match. Despite my alcohol ingestion handicap, I managed to defeat a young man rated 1127. Apparently this is sufficient to take me from my starting 1400 to 1531. Happy days?

Will crank out some more matches tomorrow.

Beat someone else and am now rated 1715. At this rate I should have made GM level in about 5 more games.
