Hi all,

White - Pips 182

Black - Pips 158
Black to Play 6-5
Created with www.BGdiagram.com

XGID=-a--abE-C---cEa-Ac-ca--A--:0:0:1:65:0:0:3:0:10

I have problems to deal with position like this. How to play 6-5? How to play 4-1? how to play 5-4?

I mean my question is: What's the "standard" game play in similar position? Is to hit? Can I hit loose behind the anchor (i think no but...) ? Any advice is welcomed!

My thoughts (don't know if I'm right):

This is going to be a long game. You are playing for the race, but would also like to make some structure (points) if possible.

So basically just put your checkers where they belong would be my policy. I wouldn't hit off the ace. I would hit more checkers as allowed and not worry about the backgame.

While it is unlikely you will come home clean and win the race, keep in mind getting hit is hardly the end of the world. Opponent has a one point board and four men back.

*********

65: 16/10, 13/8. Tries to escape and unstacks the midpoint. if missed, you will probably make a point somewhere next time (9, bar, 4 point, or 10 point itself). There is some duplication of sixes but I'm not sure how important this is.

41: Just come around the corner 15/11. Tries to make progress. Unlikely to work but what else is there?

54: Hit looks clear, 23/14*. Again what else is there?
