They should be subject to the same tax codes as any nonprofit organization. Even this is pretty generous IMO since some churches only thinly hide that they're in it for the money.

I can see arguments against it but how is this "scary" in any way? It's been this way for a long damn time now.

It's kind of scary how rich and powerful it allows certain evangelists and cult leaders (scientology for example) to become.

I'd like to see significantly lower taxes and less government across the board. That said, I see no valid reason for religious organizations, or "non profits" for that matter, to be given a different tax treatment than any other organization.

Particularly property tax. What they don't pay, the rest of us have to make up. I say they should pick up their cross and follow the rest of us.

not 100% on the code but ministers dont have to pay self employment tax (social security/medicare) they just have to fill out a form. F*** THAT BULLSH**
