You then accuse me of being precious for an accusation I never made. That's what led to this ridiculousness and that's firmly at your door.
Isn't it obvious? Your sense of humour failure might have been explained by the fact that you are a catholic, a member of a church with a high degree of piety and a reputation for frowning on blasphemy (it's actually illegal in Ireland) so I simply wondered if you were a pious Catholic.
I now know that you are technically a Catholic (an agnostic theist I saw you describe yourself as in another thread) but aren't actually offended by the joke. That just makes me wonder what then, was the reason for saying this "
Feel free to have a pop at the pope anytime but this seems a bit of a silly excuse imo "? Were you in a bad mood? Do you just not like me? Do you actually have a sense of humour?
You also failed to understand the joke since I was 'having a pop' at god, not the pope.
(And it makes me curious what you consider a non-silly reason for having a pop at the pope)
When you said:

and why do you think I would be more offended by you insulting my beliefs than others?
..I interpreted it as you introducing to the conversation the idea that you could be offended or think your beliefs insulted by my weak joke about god not liking Argentinians. It was the kind of comment that makes people roll their eyes and say things like 'oh jeez, it was just a joke' i.e. don't take things so seriously man.
I see the error now but if you read it back you can see why the way you worded it led to there.
