Not Catholic but I like his approach here. Even if Catholic, a pilgrimage to the Vatican isn't really a religious rite and as he will most likely do some traveling in the near future, his home folk will probably stand a better chance seeing him when he tours Argentina on a schedule than if they just hang out in the square hoping he shows up in a window.

He knows the poor well and knows every dollar, euro, or peso counts. He isn't telling people to put more in the coffers at church. He is just telling them to take care of the needy.

I'm impressed with him so far.

I am baptised catholic. through choice as an adult. I'm not a practicing catholic but it any case when I was I wouldn't have been offended by what you said.

Isn't it obvious? Your sense of humour failure might have been explained by the fact that you are a catholic, a member of a church with a high degree of piety and a reputation for frowning on blasphemy (it's actually illegal in Ireland) so I simply wondered if you were a pious Catholic.
