I'm not a big part of this forum but don't most atheists also think people should stop responding to her? Why not do that? Responding to her is obviously not working, so at this point why not just join that movement?

lol...she had the same effect on me. I was a weak theist when I started reading this site. I hadn't been to church in years but I still self-identified as a Roman Catholic. She was one of the Christians on here who hardened my heart against Chrstianity and pushed me in the direction of reading the works of Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris, et al.

Hopey, and others, the only people that respond to splendour are the ones who are annoyed, or have an emotional reaction to what she posts. If you, and everyone else who feels the need to respond to her, were to put her on ignore, the problem would be solved. I have done so and its great that I dont have to read the stuff, get an emotional reaction,and feel the need to post. So what if we end up with 20 threads all started by her, with no replies. There are really only 3 or 4 people who respond to her posts anyway. When she gets responses, maybe she feels that somehow she is doing gods work, or something similar.

As has been mentioned earlier in the thread, that strategy doesn't work with Splendour unless *everyone* ignores her -- which will never happen.

I believe that there is more to one's thoughts and desires than just the brain. In this view, this mind (whatever it is made from) gets filtered through the brain to result in actions in the body, and it also lives on in an afterlife. I'm as sure of this as I am of God to begin with -- not much, but just enough to actually believe.

Psychiatric treatments rely on the belief that the brain is in control, and all the evidence does point this way. But there is still a lot left unknown and a non-physical mind is certainly possible. I find this to be an uplifting view as well as it makes us more than just machines, with real free-will and a real ability to change ourselves.

That's not fair at all. There's degrees of difference between whatever posts you're talking about and Splendour's posts.

Rize is way worse then splendour has ever been. At the end of the day I don't understand why anyone reads posters that they don't like. Myself and OrP are the only ones that are forced to read posts. Before I was Mod I had many people on ignore and simple skipped over any conversation that they were participating in.

Rize was banned for his bull****...twice.

As it was said before, it becomes impossible to engage ITF when a super troll is taking every thread off the rails. Even if you have them on ignore, you still see their quoted posts. They cause so much noise that any input you may have gets drowned out. There are many of us who come here for honest debate and actually care about the subject matter. Simply ignoring a prolific troll doesn't fix the problem.

I used to flag posts that were severely off topic. You and OrP were good about deleting posts for a while, but that came to an end when you realized you're be deleting 25+ posts per day. Now, you've had posters like myself, kurto, hopey, dominic and neeeel (among others) finally fed up with the constant tangents and started calling her out on general principle. She's self banned again (for the 20th time) but will probably be back in a few days.
