The Invention of Lying The Invention of Lying

I was very surprised when I saw the movie this weekend that a significant portion of the film deals with religion in a very direct (and very subversive) way. At the same time, it seems to suggest that religion has a positive social value from a credo consolans perspective, and that a large number of "lies" we tell are of tremendous social benefit.

Has anyone else seen it or does anyone care to comment on it?

i'm pretty excited to see it because i think ricky gervais is a comedic genius and has no problem inserting controversial social commentary (obviously) and as soon as i saw the previews for this i figured this movie would be a great chance for him to pull it off on a major scale.

did you enjoy the movie?

It's not lying, it's re-framing the truth.

I saw it, it was pretty decent, not so sure about the social commentary bit, sort of heavy-handed as is usually the case in film, but a few genuinely lol moments.

Plus Jennifer Garner talking frankly about masturbating = cant miss.
