if there absolutely was NO god what would you do TONIGHT - Page 3 - Religion, God, and Theology

The funny thing is, even though none of the popular religious apologist debaters go there when they bring up the so called morality issue (they just suggest that atheists are hypocritical), back on the The Atheist Experience call-in community tv show (in Austin, Texas -- now of course on the web), we used to get Christians all the time who would honestly make that kind of claim: they would call in and say that if they suddenly woke up tomorrow not believing in god, they personally would literally become a rapist and a murderer and a robber, and that the only thing stopping them from committing those acts today is their belief in a god.

Well good thing they believe in a god then...

IMO, I think it's arrogant for people to, should they choose to believe in one, think they know what a supreme being would want. Humans are by and large insignificant creatures...grains of sand in a huge ever-expanding beach we call the universe. We barely comprehend ourselves and our own consciousness. While we may think we know a lot, it's more likely that we know effectively nothing relative to the possibility of what's out there to actually know.

The limited human being can't possibly fathom what a ubiquitous and omnipotent being would want from us, if anything at all, and if it even exists in the first place.

Nah just put um in jails that way natural selection can work its magic and people with weak moral fiber can be weeded out. It might be bloody and it might take awhile but the world would be safer in the end.

Say your God and you know the minds of your creation. You have an atheist acting morally by his own nature and you have a believer who is only being held back from raping and pillaging because he believes in you or believes he will be punished or rewarded. Who would you reward?
