I am not sure how much discussion with amount from this thread. I am not sure that there are any Christians here that believe that as Christians we be involved in politics and the government.

Either way I am going to refer once again to another Greg Boyd sermon. He talks about what the Kingdom of God truly is and what it should include and most importantly how as Christians can we live in the Kingdom of God.

GREG BOYD SERMON

Atheists, I think this might be an interesting watch for you as well just to better show you what the bible teaches on how Christians should actually be living their lives.

I liked the video and he expressed things very well.

Paul says we're citizens of heaven. Of course we have to obey governing bodies and the law and pay our taxes but I take that to mean we're suppose to focus more on individual "otherworldly" values and less on the matters of this world.

Jesus is always primarily concerned with building individuals and with interpersonal relationships he never dabbles or even comments on politics in the NT. He models how we are to be during the most unfavorable political circumstances and the apostles followed his example reinforcing it.

I think we have a primary responsibility to uphold freedom of speech and religion but beyond that I think we're pretty fluid. That is the great thing about Christianity. Its adaptable to changing environments.
