I watched the dexter pilot and thought it was ok but I felt I wasn't ready for a huge commitment for a show that didn't look that good (obv I could be wrong I only watched the pilot).

I just finished watching homeland and breaking bad, both of which were flipping amazing.

I am thinking about starting walking dead, but I am not huge into the zombie theme.

any suggestions of good series worth watching?

Dexter is an unbelievable show, especially the first few seasons. Some people debate that it has gone down hill about season 5, but I have enjoyed every season even though the first 3-4 were certainly better.

+1 to Jib. Dexter is very entertaining, if not a bit formulaic.

I can give a rousing endorsement of The Walking Dead. It's not really about Zombies, but more on post-apocalyptic survival. The zombies just aid in the ever-present threat.

I love Breaking Bad. May be my all-time favorite show behind The Wire. I still haven't watched Homeland yet.

I just finished season 1 of Spartacus. It's really good, too.

I agree with Jib, seasons 1-4 of Dexter (3 to a lesser extent than the others) were great television. As for others, hmm, I would definitely suggest The Wire if you somehow haven't seen it. Also, Sherlock is absolutely fantastic (seasons 1 & 2 are on Netflix WI). There are only six episodes so far, but they're 90-minutes apiece, so they feel more substantial than their numbers might suggest. And lastly, Deadwood. The writing and dialogue are excellent, with the only downside being that it was cancelled after season 3, which left quite a bit of unresolved story line.

Ok cool, thanks for the input guys

I will check out: (in this order)

The Wire (I somehow missed it)
Sherlock (I am a fan of the original short stories)
Dexter 1-4
Deadwood
Walking Dead

Phew thats a lot of TV watching!!!

I only recently got into TV, I used to only watch movies since I thought TV was dumb.
Then I realized some of the recent TV series are actually sick amazing.

Cheers !

A quick note, The Wire is, at times, slow in its pacing. Push through and I promise you will be rewarded with some of the greatest character driven television ever.

This covers me as well (although I've always watched TV-comedies).

btw breaking bad blew my mind. I was/am so stoked on it. Its so sick (good). I have never seen that kind of dynamic character progression/development - ever! so good.

The change in Walt is obv. cool but even the supporting roles are dynamic and grow as peoples which really gets me digging on it.

BB started out pretty slow IMO in the first 1/2 of season 1. Maybe its the same with dexter, may take me a bit to get into it. But once I am into the story I am like addicted and have to keep watching!!! probably the same for yall.

edit: btw I HIGHLY recommend Homeland. Homeland is on par with BB IMO.

In all fairness, it's applicable to 95% of 2+2. The other 5% haven't seen The Wire yet.

btw if you're looking for something a bit more on the feminine side (or watching with a significant other who is into that stuff), try "pasta" on netflix. korean chickflick/drama that's just 20 1hr episodes long. subtitles, so don't worry about the language. great overracting, obv plotlines, but for some reason it's amazingly addictive.

(one of the few shows my wife and i both enjoyed.)

(she won't watch arrested dev or iasip with me )

Nice suggestion, going in the Instant Queue.

For those wondering: 8.7/10 on IMDB and 4.5/5 stars on Amazon.

Occasionally the BBC still manages to make the kinda programmes it should be.

I still haven't watched The Wire either. I have a couple of Netflix sci-fi suggestions: Battlestar Galactica (which has a not-that-terrible underlying religious theme, as it happens) and Firefly (also the subsequent movie Serenity), which was cancelled too soon according to anyone that enjoyed it.

Currently watching Alias, which I also missed, and will add The Wire to my watch list after finishing Alias. Elementary (can't remember which network its on) is another pretty decent Sherlock Holmes show that is a current show.

But let's face it; we're all just basically biding our time until the last half of the Breaking Bad final season!

I only watched 1 or 2 episodes of Alias but it seemed cool. Is Alias worth a watch all the way through?

I am starting the wire tonight, so pumped!!!

But yeah, pretty much this:

If you can't add to the program through your narration, at least be neutral. The narrator shouldn't be a distraction from the overall presentation.

The final results in the crushing victory by the Christian theist WLC:

The panel of judges for the debate awarded the victory to the Christian side 4-2; the audience voted similarly 1390-303; and so did the internet voters 734-59.

I know, it's hard to believe WLC managed to swing so many people over to his side. My atheism has been rocked to it's core.
