Nothing like Craig getting an audience question he's answered in practically every debate.

Kidding, obv. Based on Zumbo's comments about the Moving Forward discussion, I asked Rosenberg why he cites people to support points they clearly disagree with.

I guess that's probably not as relevant or specifically related to the debate to get asked. Meh.

That guy must have gotten Zumby's memo. Predictability, mother****er. Do you speak it!

Craig saying that God is the greatest conceivable being and therefore must be compassionate, just etc obviously isn't an answer cos we still need grounds for why those qualities should be associated with a GCB. Otherwise he is accepting that those qualities are good for reasons outside God.

"Sounds pretty ad hoc to me."

Checkmate, Craig. Check. Mate.

Not that I mind speculation, but is it fair for Craig to criticize Rosenberg for offering "mere speculation" if his responses include so much of his own?

Rosenberg said the New Testament was written in Aramaic. Craig said he was wrong, the NT was written in Greek, which it was.

I don't give the results a lot of weight, however, I did like to see a panel of formal debate judges, which correctly gave it to WLC, 4-2. On formal debate rules, I don't think Craig has ever lost. As I said, I don't think that's terribly important, but is mostly a comment on the incompetence of his opposition. This is especially true of philosophers, who, if they've at least read Plato, ought to understand something of the value of debate technique.

Other than that my only question is how many books did Rosenberg sell?

I picked up a flyer at my church today. Apparently we are having an apologetics conference and WLC among others will be in town. Should be interesting, just not sure I want to shell out 40 bucks on it.

If you do go you might want to prepare some questions for the speakers you plan to hear - great opportunity for some one on one.

And if you do go and you think it's worthwhile consider giving us a trip report.

I agree with this. I would love to hear a TR from someone who attends a live event.

And I second NotReady in suggesting you prepare a question. Make it specific and brief. Don't be like the guy who asked the first question at this debate.

I missed the debate the first time around, is it worth spending almost 3 hours on?

It was great to hear Rosenberg open by critiquing Craig's arguments, establishing his familiarity with his debate opponent, and Craig gave some arguments he usually doesn't make. So I'd recommend it at least for the novelty. Really only 1.5 hours tho. Last hour is audience q&a.

Spoiler:
I thought it was overly predictable and had bouts of just terrible, terrible writing (was this the "lady boner" episode? I can't remember). This pretty much sums up the last 3 seasons of Dexter, but I'm too invested to quit watching now.
