I'll admit It's hard for me to respect anyone who worships a genocidal God like the Christians, Jews, and Muslims do. I mean I'm still nice to them and all, but it takes effort. I understand intellectually it's not their fault for having such silly and potentially globally destructive beliefs, but most of the time I just wanna scream out "What the **** is wrong with you!"

I don't feel this struggle when I run into someone who's part of a truly loving and peaceful religion like Jainism, even though there are a lot of silly beliefs there too.

I'm generally not a very emotional person, but last night while I was googling for some Christian school girls to add the the Atheist Pic's thread, I ran into a 2005 article with gruesome pictures about three Christian girls who were beheaded by Muslims in Indonesia. Tears streamed down my face as I looked at the images.

With all my heart I do hate the God of the Christians, Muslims and Jews. I consider this hatred a moral imperative.

As you may or may not remember when I first started posting here how many times I blew up at various atheists. I blows my mind how many refuse to look at things objectively and how many times they are corrected on the beliefs of christianity and yet they still cling to their straw man beliefs. And how many times i have had to correct people about not differentiating man made religion and people from the bible. It has made me sick at times.

But I work through it and have learned to better control my rage.

So I empathize with you.

I see the genocidal behavior of the God of the Christians, Muslims, and Jews in the bible. I see the destruction the worshipers of these religions have caused over the last 4-5K years. I know that the majority of Christians, Muslims and Jews have not directly caused this destruction, but I still hate the God they worship and I think I have good reason to.

You can't erase what God did in the OT. You can't ignore that many people have done some horrible things based on their beliefs of what the OT, NT and Koran said. You cannot claim that your (more peaceful) beliefs in what your book says are more valid than theirs.

There is a reason why you'll never see a person crashing into a building, torturing someone, or blowing up an abortion clinic in the name of Jainism.

I don't have a problem with christians in real life. I've even had creationists in my living room trying to convince me about intelligent design.

I think they were intellectually way off and cut a good deal of shortcuts in their arguments, but for all intents and purposes they seemed like very nice people. I can scream on here about how the god of the OT is violent (which I do think he is) but I'd be surprised if those people could even swat flies without having a bad conscience.

I agree that internetbased debate tends to grow alot more hostile since the "niceties" of real life encounters tend to be ignored.

i think religious people need to be ridiculed more. youd ridicule someone if they told you that they thought Elvis were alive, or Astrology held the keys to predicting the future. these people need to realize just how fringe worthy their superstitions are. id like to see them constantly ridiculed in public life, and in private. and for someone who publicly admits to believing in God or Jesus to have as much chance at a respectable career if they admitted to believing in Zeus or Poseidon.

No, I wouldn't. But someone like you might put people down and belittle/ridicule them.

I always try and approach a Christian with kindness and respect, I have no incentive to make enemies. However I will use a reactive strategy equal to their approach throughout, if they are kind to me, I will be kind to them, if they are rude to me I will be rude to them, if they take their actions too far, I will likely leave the debate/discussion. Not all situations are the same however, RoosterCAD has shown me what a disgusting human being he is. I see no reason not to be rude to him.
