Hi ..

I am new around here on the online poker industry and I am sorry if i might sound kinda' rookie but i didn't find the answers and i thought that should ask around here .. among the pro's ..

I am asking if i want to "stake" a player with $200 on PS and :

I am considering to request all the contact details from the ID till a "contract form" .. and he decide to bails me and runs with my money .. or decide to play with high stakes and loose all the money ... what legitimately actions can I make against him ... accept get him banned from PS ... like sue him .. or request form PS his card details and sue him ..

I know I might look hilarious but I want to be sure that he's a fair person ...

So I've been staking a friend in full ring games, and we have decided to switch him to HU. I was wondering what the standard staking deal is for HU? Our other arrangement was for a 100k hand sample but at HU it seems like that is a lot more time that would be under the stake.

Any help on what is standard and fair, please let me know.

Does anyone have experience staking a horse to go SNE? I'm working with a horse to go SNE next year and we have a 50/50 deal in the works on everything (profits, FPP bonuses, Depo bonuses, milestones, SNE MTT package).

What's the typical deal with the MTT package? What % action do I own? Or should we use a sliding scale based on finish position because of the larger monetary implications? If the horse is interested in a buyout for some of his MTT action, what's the best way to handle that?

i would pm daut44, i think he would be the best person to answer this based on his experience with live backing and his willingness to help in other staking threads

pretty sure this is the best place to put this.

If a backer stakes you for a while, and it went well and everything and both leave the agreement under amicable terms, it is still not ok to spam that you were staked by that backer without their permission. the best way to do this is to just say in your thread/pm that "i can tell you refs upon request". than, you come ask your current backer if it is ok to use them as a ref and most of the time they will directly contact the new backer telling them their dealings with you.

saying "xxxxx" backed me out in the open, or saying it in a PM without that past backer's consent each time is not cool, imo.

just my thoughts on it. would like to hear what other backers think.

Yes it could be more time but the variance in HU needs to be factored in. If you shorten it too much you end up taking on a lot more risk as the backer.

I know coaching has it forum, but I'm looking enter a coaching and staking agreement. How is this usually done. Is it the norm to just say take 75% of the profits to start and then slowly scale that back to 50% as there's less coaching. Is it better to just have a fixed amountht that the pupil has to eventually pay back? If anyone has participaed in something like this, please let me konw about it. If this question is better suited for the coaching forum, let me know.

Hi I am a bit confused about the RoR
What is the prize referring to, and what is the profit? Is profit (SUM(winnings) - SUM(buyin) No idea on prizes

ROI = (Profit / (Prizes–Profit) x 100 - OP

I am a bit confused as I would of done ROI = (winnings/buyin) *100 -100 so if someone could clarify with an example using the formula in the OP that would be great.
Thanks

I am currently staking and doing some coaching with a uNL 6-max player/ friend of mine. In 2 months he has worked 200 into 1200 and took some nl50 shots. He had some initial success and then started tanking a little. His phone has stopped working and he hasn't been in touch in a few days. I checked his PTR to find that he has tanked a bunch at 50 6-max. Then today, I find that he has tanked 150 in a nl50 HU match, which he is obviously underrolled for. Furthermore, I didn't stake him to play HU? If PTR has tracked all his sessions, I estimate that he has tanked to around 550. What do I do? Should I pull him from the stake? Or should I let him grind it back up at nl25/nl10 if he tanks more at 25? All advice/ input is welcome. Many Thanks.

With friends like this who needs! .... personally u shudda took a major cut soon as he hit 1k imo, then kept him grinding at the same levels certainly not moving up just like that, surley u didnt coach him to jump straight to 50nl just because u had a good run at 25nl, the whole point of coaching surley os to watch and see how he wud deal with the swings, at the same levels, i think u got ur answer anyway, turn ur fone off lol and hope to scrape it back b4 u find out . bless

exactly, im a novce and i still understand that u need 100x the buy-in, really to suffer the dys of swings that can be put upon u, 50 at a minimum if ur what i would cal a pro player, if ur coaching someone and letting them climb up so quickly without them really understanding what there doing, then ur probably both as bad as each other.

I'm pretty sure 20 BI shottaking is OK at 6-max. He was doing well the last time I spoke with him. And I know 11 BI isn't that serious of a downswing. But I think it's prettty standard to call it an unsuccessful shot and drop back down after losing a few buy ins. I wasn't saying he ahd become a permanent nl 50 player. It was just shottaking, and I guess he was reluctant to drop back down and obv didn't consult me at all. Also, while he probably has been running hot to some extent, he has posted a pretty solid winrate over 50K hands and has had experience before our staking agreement. So it's not like he's a complete drooler who is just on a heater, jumping stake. He def grinded his way through 10 and 25. He def knows what he is doing to some extent. Apparently with some tilt issues.

Miss_Death, If you are that much of a bankroll nit, then enjoy grinding your current stakes for the rest of your natural life.

How do I get a stake if I am an overall losing player? Some of it has to do with getting familiar with online poker and trying to win at Sit-n-Go's when my real game is definitely MTT. I got 6th out of 327 people in one tourney, 2nd out of a 180 turbo MTT on PS, and 56 out of 758 on another tourney (I think I was getting poor cards that tourney, so I couldn't finish higher.) I am hoping to get a stake for Cake's 17k and 20k tournaments tonight, but I am new to the forums, and my stats aren't so great. What can I do?

Well, I am more looking for a loan or I guess a really short term stake. Do people offer these?

What's a normal sample size for a backee to give the backer to prove they are beating a limit? For example, if I had moved up to a limit, and was beating it to begin with, but then had to cash out my roll for some reason and wanted staking, how many hands would a backer want at a certain limit as evidence that you are beating that limit and would be good to stake?

Also, how low do stakers go? I wouldn't mind being staked for 10NL at the moment (need to cash out my roll to pay for college stuff and can't afford to redeposit) but would there be any backers willing to stake at such a low level?
