Stox PLO coaches Stox PLO coaches

I don't want to single anyone out here, but the level of play of the current active PLO coaches is truly awful.

I'm just listening to one guy contemplating the pros and cons of calling all-in pre-flop holding A532ds versus what he perceives as likely aces, he called a pot reraise pf with this same read in mind. Another coach plays the nuts and only the nuts, and if he doesn't hold it always assigns it to his opponent, absolutely no imagination at all.

The commentary is poor, slow and bored sounding, with low level ideas only being discussed.

I've tried watching the PLO vids released over the last few months but end up having to switch off to avoid becoming dumber, it really is painful both to listen to and to watch.

Please bring back Ribbo asap, or if that's not possible get Bryce to watch a couple of PLO games for five minutes or so. I have no doubt he'll manage to come up with greater insights and a better understanding of the game than the current active crop of coaches in that time frame.

We are always on the lookout for quality coaches and content at stoxpoker and PLO is no exception, so if you think you could do better or know a player who can, please let us know and we would love to see if there is a good fit.

That said, I want to remind you that most stoxpoker stuff is small stakes geared, and this is the case with our PLO content - it sounds like you may want to checkout some of the higher stakes stuff at cardrunners.

I don't think Ribbo will be making it back into the rotation, but I did check our recent PLO vids and 9 out of our last 10 releases have recieved a member rating of 4 stars out of 5 or higher.

Reading back my post I may have overstated things, awful is too strong, my apologies. Perhaps I just mean very disappointing in comparison to the level of play and analysis of other games, in particular NLHE and LHE.

Something you might reasonably expect looking at the other videos on Stox would be analysis that rises above simple pre-flop hand selection, it can get a bit frustrating watching a player explain that AAxx is an easy raise on the button in a six-handed game for example.

The ratings system is one indicator of satisfaction I'd agree but the sample is skewed in a sense that only those people motivated to leave feedback will do so. This could mean of course that the 'real' response is even better than recorded by this system, or it could be worse. It's obviously a silly attitude on my part but I hate leaving negative feedback (until eventually exploding with this outburst!) and have in the past simply switched off any video I disliked. I'm not sure if I could do better, after all it's much easier to critique than to create. I think at best my own attempts would be certainly inferior to Ribbo's (I think he's a better player than me) which is one of the reasons I was voting for his return.

Still it sounds like a challenge and I might soon have the opportunity to have a proper attempt at making a video. If I'm able to make something of sufficient quality and interest I'll get in touch!

I'd love to see more SSPLO. I really, really enjoyed the Ms. PLO, Vanessa Selbst vids.

Any suggestions on where to look for a similar 'ground up' series. Open to different sites, but looking for a comprehensive introduction to the game, starting with hands, and how/why to play them.

Any suggestions on what to avoid?
