having trouble playing CR videos on a mac

So I downloaded a bunch of videos yesterday and am trying to watch them on my Mac. They open neither in VLC nor in Quicktime after I installed a Flip4Mac codec (unable to play protected content, it tells me ... but I downloaded the video; is that not the extent of the protection?) I also noticed something weird: most of the videos have two file-name suffixes, so the file name is something like 'videoname.avi.wmv,' which is weird. Can someone help me out?

Windows Media Player 11 or later running in Windows XP/Vista/7 is the only supported player for downloaded videos. Other players may not display content correctly. Adobe Flash streaming is available for all operating systems. Downloaded videos are in DRM protected WMV format (some exceptions like CTZ series).
