USA has a pretty big population. You don't need a large percentage of the population to be into it to get a decent team together.

true, for a decent team you need decent league and above all money money money... if US decide to become football power they just need to inject few billions $$$ into that sport - next thing you know, US plays semi-finals/finals

You don't need money. A football, an open space, jumpers for goalposts and a passion for the game is all you need. A deep in run in a world cup could inspire a generation of kids to take up the game, no matter what that nation's general view on the sport is.

we had a team at my school but it was full of preppy **** and this will never change. its just not cool here. much like across the ocean soccer players are bad ass and I assume baseball is for ****.
