My understanding is that I have to pay regular taxes on the base pay but not on the other stuff. I do get a pension and **** after 20 years. Also I get health and life insurance plus all sorts of money to pay for college. My promotion to E-4 ($1,889.70/month) is automatic after 28 months though I could get it after 22 months. It's a pretty nice little package.
What bout when you want to have a family and stuff, its going to get tough being away from home. I think national service is a good thing for a single man but very tough for someone with a family at home.
I guess pay is not a big thing for you its more serving your country amirite?
lot of respect to you, i could never do the away from home stuff or even be mentally up to the job. Ill try and help people in my own back yard.
