If you ever wanna square a two digit number, like 86 you can do it like this:

86 x 86 =
(86 + 4) x (86 - 4) + (4 x 4) =
90 x 82 + 16 = 7396

I don't know about that, but it's not hard to avoid doing your civic duty if you don't want to. However; I think faking a reason, or whatever, is really lame.
