JM3 Team Write-up

OFFENSE
My offense is one based on elite weapons & upside.

Josh Gordon did something that no one has ever done the last 2 weeks, 200 yard games in back to back weeks, and he did it with UNDRAFTED WOAT QB throwing him the ball.

Ridiculous combination of size & speed. Upside to be 2nd best receiver in the league behind Calvin. Only 22 y/o.

Cordarrelle Patterson rushed for a touchdown this past week, and continues to show crazy ability to make people miss in the open field. Elite kick returner, which is an under-represented skill in this league. Once he comes into his own in the next couple years, he will be a really tough cover, especially with 2nd corners, or 3rd replacement level corners, because...

Mike Wallace is another one of the fastest, most dangerous, receivers in the league. Can immediately line up outside across from Gordon, and assume more of a slot role when CP84 starts beasting in a couple years. Match-up nightmares abound.

Leaving plenty of running room for Le'Veon Bell, who is also a very legitimate threat to matriculate the ball downfield on dump-off passes if the defense sells out on the deeper routes.

How is there going to be enough time for these guys to get downfield? An elite pass blocking left tackle.

Russell Okung does not allow people near his QB, period. The Seahawks offense has seen a dramatic uptick since his return, and I expect him to be even healthier for next year. Freakishly long arms neutralize even the best edge rushers & keep the QB's backside clean.

D.J. Fluker, the 11th overall pick in last year's draft, will be protecting the other side & road-grading for the run.

The wildcard, of course, is QB Mike Glennon. If he develops into an upper-echelon QB, my offense will be pretty much unstoppable, based on the aforementioned WEAPONS.

He has already made huge strides since entering the league, displaying good field vision, anticipation, and of course, the cannon.

Here is an article from Greg Cosell which I thought was somewhat interesting:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-sh...5946--nfl.html

Anyway, if he continues on the developmental arc it appears he is on, my offense will be seriously dangerous by year 3, when the Brady/Manning teams will be folding up shop, & other teams will be showing signs of slippage.

OFFENSE
QB Mike Glennon (24-28)
HB Le'Veon Bell (22-26)
WR Josh Gordon (23-27)
WR Cordarrelle Patterson (23-27)
WR Mike Wallace (28-32)
LT Russell Okung (27-31)
RT D.J. Fluker (23-27)

DEFENSE
My defense is immediately one of the best in the league, boasting speed, skill, and play-making, and all of the players still have room to grow & become even better.

Defensive line starts with Lamarr Houston. Not sure whether to call him a run-stuffing end who can get after the QB, or a pass rushing end who can stuff the run, because at 6'3" 300 lbs he does both at a Pro Bowl-caliber level.

Along similar lines, Michael Brockers is a versatile run stuffer/backfield disrupter/QB sacker who is getting better & better, and is 6'5" 322 lbs.

They both are going to cause havoc, especially when you consider who's drawing the double teams every single play:

Von Miller is one of the very best pass rushers in the game, who also possesses the ability to drop into coverage. He runs a 4.49 40. For reference purposes, teammate Eric Decker runs a 4.54. He will make plays all over the field, & force turnovers at an alarming rate.

As a rookie, MLB Kiko Alonso has made an immediate impact for the Bills. So much so that they do not take him out of the game. Ever. He is the only player to play ever snap on defense for his team this year. His versatility and durability is hugely important when you realize that if a guy comes out, a mediocre scrub has to come in & try to deal with the elite talent in this league. Potential rookie of the year candidate, tackles everyone. Good cover, great against the run. Another very versatile piece.

I just discussed OLB Alec Ogletree, but he's yet another guy who is fast & can make plays in all facets of the game, and forces turnovers.

Regardless of whether Joe Haden might have been a slight reach as the first CB drafted overall, & has been beat on 2 plays that got attention the last couple weeks, it is not deniable that he is at worst a top 5 corner in this, and I would argue higher, as those 2 plays were only so notable because no one ever beats him. He shut down Calvin Johnson once, & AJ Green twice so far this year, as well as every other comer before the 1 play to Brown & the 1 play to Shorts (who he blanketed perfectly earlier in the game & then made an athletic catch to make an interception).

His best work comes against bigger wide receivers.

As such, Brandon Boykin is the perfect complement. Boykin excels in his work in the slot & against quicker receivers. His blend of size, speed & agility allows him to regularly shut down such players as Victor Cruz.

Finally, we round out the defense with one final elite young playmaker, S Kenny Vaccaro. Vaccaro immediately had a huge impact on the Saints, getting after it in practice (including injuring UNDRAFTED WR and allowing for better UNDRAFTED WR to get playing time), and bringing an edge to the Saints defense. One final guy who is excellent against both pass & run, can play all over the field in man or zone, and gives us even more options. Hard hitter.

DEFENSE
DE Lamarr Houston (27-31)
DT Michael Brockers (23-27)
OLB Von Miller (25-29)
MLB Kiko Alonso (24-28)
OLB Alec Ogletree (23-27)
CB Joe Haden (25-29)
CB Brandon Boykin (24-28)
S Kenny Vaccaro (23-27)

HEAD COACH

Finally, the man who won a SUPER BOWL with a super mediocre QB, an aging, injured defense, smoke & some mirrors, John Harbaugh. He is in the prime of his coaching career (52-56), and always gets the best out of his talent.

Expect the team to be competitive immediately, and a serious 'ship contender in years 3 to 5.

Did you not see his last couple of games? He's going nuts. A couple of those drops get caught and they beat Denver.
