I'm not a tourney player so you might want to get feedback from someone who knows wtf they're talking about but 9's seems sort of marginal there.

Obv a pretty nice chip +Ev spot to take against his range, but I get the feeling in tournaments you want to win almost all of your chips w/o showing down.

Counter-point: After the bubble bursts is a good time to try to chip up to have a chance to actually tid when 5-20 probably pays about the same.

You now live in Florida. You are no longer permitted to make fun of any other region of the USA#1.

Maybe so but, I was not healthy on chips. I had 110k or so, blinds were 5000/10000 with 1000 antes. Most of my table had over 400k. Sure, I could have taken the 23k chips in antes/blinds, but I needed to double. Was pretty much card dead for 4 orbits.

Also a contributing factor was: 2 day event, I wasn't going to get a hotel just to come back with a short stack.

And yeah, I can't remember the structure but iirc, 19-27 = $2338(my payout), 14-18 = 2580, and then from that point on, it went up a bit more each time someone went out.

I think this would all depend on his stack size relative to the blinds and antes and his stack size compared to the rest of the people.

idk there's two ways to try to chip up ... win a big showdown hand or start shoving a lot wider range from late position in unopened pots (even for the 4 orbits of card deadness before this).

No longer have any poker range comp software on my computer (thanks obama) but 9's seems a bit weak to trap.

You get dealt what you get dealt imo.

Honestly the extra night probably is what pushes it into a "try to showdown & double up" hand.
07-28-2013 , 01:03 PM
Also the open wider strat is more difficult on a loose table that's opening a lot which could have also been happening obv.

The main thing is you tried your best. So it doesn't really matter that you failed.

Everyone on my table had chips. They were very active, and this was like the 3rd hand out of 30 some odd hands that was folded to the blinds. Most of the hands were open raised to 30-40k. Of course, I was at 200k when we redrew for tables.

Opening wide is bad here. My table was 100% regs/grinders, I knew them all.

This was like a $560 buyin or something like that right?
07-28-2013 , 01:13 PM
Yah $560 reentry.
Basically a rebuy, but you could rebuy if you busted and you get reseated.

Stakes too small ldo. Plus I was talking about people who don't believe in preflop raising. Or raising in general.

Does that really sound like me?
