He is a fascinating character personally as well. I agree he was marvelous on that series. I had already read his Civil War series before that but became for a fan of him as a person through that. Just gorgeous writing.

j2 i bought a pork shoulder roast. i want to try to make pulled pork but have never done that before. can i use a slow cooker for that?

yes, slice up a bunch of onion and put it on the obttom, more than anything it just kinda keeps it from burning. then put a mix of weird **** in there simulate bbq sauce and let it cook for like 6 -8 hours. stuff like spicy mustard and dr pepper

dont use red onions in the pot, use those when u slice it up and put it on buns. also, add some liquid smoke since ur doing it in a crock pot
