It's probably the position both of you would take if you didn't feel like you needed to be contrary and argue with each other. Like millions and millions of people died really recently in China subsistence farming so the situation now is preferable. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't work to improve things. For example internal labor movement within China is very difficult so a lot of workers are rural and undocumented so they're very exploitable. Also, what you said about large farms isn't really accurate. They do work on large farms but they're collectives. Not corporate farms like you'd think of in the west ...... afaik
