Don't see the difference. That contract you are enforcing is a copyright contract. One that you now agree to when you buy a book. When you break it by copying that book the creator goes to court to sue you for breaking the contract. You are just describing copyright but want to call it something else.

I know that especially in the U.S. big business has managed to add criminal charges to breaking copyright but that is another issue. You claim you don't want copyright or IP laws at all which means no licensing or contracts.

You libertarians- you don't seem to realize that there is historical precedent for how your ideas on this one work. It didn't work as well as it does now back then- and it would be even dumber with the internet.
Agree - lifetime + 70 years is absurd. 10 years is reasonable. Artists still make the bulk of their money/recognition and their work becomes freely available for public use while it still has relevance.

That's like saying the only people to benefit from anti assault laws are those willing to through the ordeal of a trial after they've been assaulted.

The biggest problem with this is that I am not alone in nature.

Whenever the interactions become so complex that only Paul Krugman understands what is happening.
