So I'm trying to synchronize the data on my laptop (computer A) with my desk top (computer B) for PT3.

Now I understand the first step is to back up the data on computer B.

So I go to datbase->database management-> back up -> and I can't get it to recognize my UBS to save it to. How do I get it to look at my UBS? Is the PT3 SQL file that shows on the database management screen the correct data to back up?

Please see the Tutorial: Synchronizing databases. You should be able to save the backup on your main hard drive then drag the file to whatever storage device you may have available.
