Yes, there is a way to do this. In the auto-import window, you can choose to import observed hands and played hands into different databases.

Also, since for example Full Tilt saves observed hands with tmp files, it's easy to achive the same thing even if you're importing all your hands using manual import. Just import the tmp files to your observed database and then the txt files (which would be your played hands) to your played database.

Personally I use one database for played hands and one for observed hands. I really like having it that way. When I analyze my play I don't have to work in an enormous database.

The only disadvantage I can see to having separate played and observed DBs is if you want to analyse another player, their hands will be split across databases so you won't be able to see all their stats together.

so it has zero/close to zero effect on HUD speed(or CPU consumption) while playing?

It *should* have close to zero effect and it does for most people. However, I have seen some people having problems with several databases, but these issues should be fixed shortly.
