What is the quickest way to make pokertracker start and use the HUD with stats from just the tournament I'm currently playing in. When I do auto site import it's taking it forever to load my 30,000 + hands in the database.

That sounds like you haven't got it configured to move the old hand histories which have already been read. See the 'move processed files to' option - Tutorial: Using Auto Import.
