So I'm thinking about upgrading my computer to Windows 7.

I believe I used the registration code on a previous computer and now my laptop. If I upgrade the laptop to windows 7 and have to reinstall PT3 will this recognize the computer as a 3rd user and invalidate my code?

No you won't. Just uninstall PT3 before running the upgrade and that will free up one of your two slots. Then reinstall after the upgrade is complete to ensure there aren't any problems.
