I just enabled a FTP account
So now I have a new name setup

My PS name has 1.5 million hands in and is really slow.

How do I establish a new folder to have PT access files only from that file.

So I retain all my hands in my computer - but from here on the only hands that appear in pt and my HUD are from X date onwards.

Also can you please provide links for the tutorial on the notetaking functionality?

You can create a new database by clicking Database --> Database Management --> New. Then set the new database to active and default, and import all of your hands to it. If you want to use your old stats just for the HUD, you can check that on the Hud Options tab or not at your discretion.

See the Tutorial: Managing Hud Groups for some on the note taking functionality. If you have a more specific question about note taking I'd be glad to answer it.

So forgive my density.

I want to use my old Pokerstars SN
But I do not want to use the filter functions.
I want PT3 for my old Pokerstar SN to only access hands from say june '09.
But I want to retain the files from pre june '09.

I am not particularly interested in maintain my db in my HUD _ I would actually like to see how the statistics of some of the regs converge now.

So you suggest db __db management --->new
then what?

Am I correct?

Once you create the new database, set it as Active and Default on the Database Management window. Now you have a new database with no hands in it. You can set PT3 to import hands to that database (on the auto import's preferences tab), and all data in that database will be entirely separate from the other one. If you want to see all lifetime data in the HUD you can check both databases on the Hud Options tab. If you don't, you can check just that database you wish to see there.

To create a new database in PT3, you use Database > Database Management > New, as you said before.
When you have created this database, select it in the list and set it as Active and Default, as kraada suggested.

You can't do anything with the database files manually in postgres.
