Problems with postgres Problems with postgres

Hi.

So I've downloaded PT3 and when I'm trying to get into it i'm being asked to download something called postgres. I'm really struggling with this. I've downloaded the servicepack and turned of the user thingy as per the instructions but it still doesn't work. What happens is that the postgres download works up to a certain point, tells mre it can't go any further and then 'rolls back'.

As I've already paid for PT3 (I know should have trialled it first) i'm a little fed up with this. So anyone got any suggestions? Bear in mind that i'm a techincal buffoon who doesn't know his hardrive from his operating system.

Thanks in advance.

Please download "PT3 with postgres" from the Download page.
This will install postgres for you.

If you are using Vista, you need to run the installer as Administrator - right click it and choose Run As Administrator.

Thanks for that WhiteRider.

I've downloaded the version with postreg and am ruinning it as administrator but still having problems. I get a window with the following

Server: Localhost Database user: PostReg

port: 5432 Password:

Now I don't know if I need to put something into the password field or not but it looks like I might as I get a message saying 'Cannot connect to this database. Please check congiuration'

Any ideas?

The default values are:
Server: localhost
Port: 5432
User: postgres
Password: dbpass

If this password does not work for you, you can disable password authentication by following the directions of this tutorial.

The password doesn't seem to work and postgres doesn't seem to apppear on the list of my programs (Maybe because it downloaded with PT?).

Still getting the same message when I try the password.

Postgres as installed by PT3 is a full installation so it should appear in Start -> Programs..
Did the installer run all the way through without any problems?
