Did you install PostgreSQL? Click Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> Start Services to start the PostgreSQL service. If you don't see the "Start Services" link or the PostgreSQL folder then you don't have PostgreSQL installed and you will need to download and install PokerTracker 3 Build 3 with PostgreSQL from our download page.

If you have PostgreSQL installed, the default values are:
Server: localhost
Port: 5432
User: postgres
Password: dbpass

If this password does not work for you, you can disable password authentication by following the directions of this tutorial.

You may also want to try disabling your firewall to see if that is preventing the PostgreSQL server from running properly.

Checked all of those and there fine

I'd also try disabling your a/v or anti-spyware, then restarting PostgreSQL (with firewall off also) and see if that works.

If it doesn't, please submit the 3 most recent files in the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\Data\pg_log to a support request and we'll look into the details further.

now it is saying unable to connect to database please check configuration,???

Please try starting the postgres service: Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> Start Service.
If that, and a reboot doesn't work, try stopping the service (Start -> Programs -> Postgres -> Stop Service), running a search on your computer for postmaster.pid and then deleting that file, then restarting the service and see if that helps.
Note that you may need to turn on 'View hidden files and folders', and the file seems to be in the folder './Program Files/postgresql/[version]/data'.

If it still won't start, send us the log files as Kraada suggested.

ok how do i send you the log files then and where are they

is there anyway of reinstalling postgreSQL because that seems to be the problem

You can reinstall PostgreSQL, but it's not likely a problem with PostgreSQL, but more likely a problem with your other software. As I said previously, turn your firewall off and then try again, or submit the aforementioned log files to our support system -- click through the categories to get to a ticket creation page and then use the Attach File area to attach the files.

my firewall is off sir, how do i get these files. God i suck help me

To enable logging, see here (Submitting a pt3 log file). Once enabled, try again and when it fails, go to here (PT3 Support Ticket System) and attach the log files below to the ticket you create. Link here as well in the reference so we can follow both through:

C:\Program Files\Pokertracker 3\pokertracker.log
C:\Program Files\Pokertracker 3\pokertrackerhud.log

Also, if you are in Vista, and you installed pt3 WITH postgresqwl, there is a chance that the postgresql that came w/it (version 8.3) is your issue. If so, try this: Total Uninstall/Reinstall of PT3 and Postgresql. This will walk you through installing 8.2 instead of 8.3.

Thomas - those aren't the log files which were requested in this case.

To fully uninstall/reinstall see this post:
Total uninstall/reinstall of pt3

Note that you don't need to manually install postgres, the PT3 with postgres installer will do it for you, but you DO need to follow the uninstall steps carefully.

Did you do the DOS prompt "net user postgres /delete" part of the uninstall?
