Upgrade to Beta 30.1, and click File -> Backup. You can then backup your notes and take them elsewhere and restore them via the File -> Restore option.

Will this delete the notes i already have?

No, backing up your notes won't delete the notes already in the database.

is this the fastest way to move my pt3 notes between my two computers? (they are never on the same LAN)
what checkboxes do i need to tick? aggregated notes?
03-04-2010 , 12:28 PM
Yes that's probably fastest; all you'll need to check is Aggregated Notes - no other databases or optional files.

will this copy my stars and fulltilt notes as well? is there anyway to convert those notes into normal pt3 notes? is it planned to have an option to label the note in a different color? VERY handy.

and last question.. is there any public development roadmap for pokertracker so us customers can know what to expect from future versions?

thanks

No this will just do PT3 notes - the import/export of notes from poker sites is a planned feature I believe.

Color coded notes have been requested many times; if you would like to be notified automatically when it becomes available please create a support ticket for this request and we'll make sure to set that up for you.

There is no public development roadmap at this time; we tried it for a little while and decided it was best to abandon it and concentrate on development directly instead.

tried this now and doing this gives me a file ptnotes.xml that only has this in it

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<PT_PLAYER_NOTES Version="1.0" PT3Version="3, 0, 1, 3007">
</PT_PLAYER_NOTES>

Did you have any notes IN PT3?
This doesn't do anything with notes in the site software.
03-05-2010 , 06:08 AM
yes, i have a lot.

got it to work - you do need to tick the pt3 db in the left area under databases
03-05-2010 , 06:13 AM
Do you have the database(s) where the notes are selected in the list of databases?
This definitely works - I've tested it.

I haven't had the chance to write a tutorial about the new backup/restore mechanism yet, but it's definitely on the list.

To backup notes:

- tick the database(s) in which you currently have notes in the Databases list.
- tick "Aggregated Notes" in the Optional files list and untick everything else
- UNtick "Backup Databases" in the "Backup Options" section.
- click Backup Now.

To restore the notes to a different database:
- set the database which you want the notes added to as Active.
- File > Restore
- select your backup file
- "Aggregated Notes" should be ticked already, with everything else disabled (because there is nothing else in the backup file)
- click "Restore Now"
- Click "Yes" to the message box "Merge aggregated notes into active database?"

I believe the note on "theoharris" may be the first made. This DB starts July 2,2009

You don't need to view the backup file - were you able to restore it?
Have you looked at that player in your new database? Does he have the note?
03-07-2010 , 01:34 PM
OK
I'm running 2 puters will try to backup on other puter tomorrow.
Thanks.
BTW It made a zip file do I unzip B4 restoring?
03-07-2010 , 02:11 PM
no, pokertracker loads the zip file. this is what needs to be ticked http://djodjo.250free.com/20100305-4sv-93kb.jpg .
03-07-2010 , 03:42 PM
djo is correct - when you do File > Restore, select the .zip file that was created.
