This might be answered somewhere already, but I just installed PT3 on my tower, it was previously only on my laptop, and I am having some huge performance issues when hand imports occur.

After a hand, during the import/HUD update, postgres.exe will take 50% of my CPU, sometimes a second postgres.exe will take the other 50%. For system specs, I have a P4 DCore 3.0GHz with 2GB of RAM and a SATA hard drive. The video card is also nice, but I doubt that matters much.

Needless to say when postgres.exe is hogging my system resources it becomes almost impossible to actually play poker. It's bad enough that the mouse gets laggy. I certainly don't have this problem on my laptop, but my tower has better hardware. What can I do to fix these performance issues?

What version of PT3 and PostgreSQL are you using?

Postgres 8.4 and PT beta 30.6. I ran a housekeeping and it seems to have sped up, but that seems weird since it was a brand new database with no hands in it yet. It that all it took?

From beta 30.6 onward running housekeeping once even on an empty database does make a difference - it builds the cache which speeds things up considerably. On an empty database the time taken to run housekeeping should be fairly trivial.
