Housekeeping Housekeeping

So I was told the reason my HUD isnt displaying all names etc, is because I need to do housekeeping, Should I have Stars closed while doing this?

I didnt realize it was going to take hours to do this, I cannot even get PT to close, I only have a few hours to play tonight and then i am going to sleep and have to work all day tomorrow, I would much rather do this overnight and while I am at work.

Does anyone know if playing while it is doing that will effect anything? Thanks

as far as I know, you can not use the HUD while doing housekeeping. If you have never done it housekeeping will take very long. A lot depends on your system and the number of hands. It might take less time but I would a lot at least 24 hours.

It really does vary quite a lot based on how many hands are in your database.

A full housekeeping for me with a cache rebuild on a half a million hands takes roughly 5 hours on a decent-ish 1.5 year old machine. If you have only 50,000 hands or some such it should only take a matter of minutes. If you've got millions of hands then yes it can take quite a while.

You can play while housekeeping is running - it doesn't affect the poker site software at all, but you won't be able to import or use the HUD.

does that include vacuuming and clustering?

Yes it does, it's about 3 hours for the update cache, about 2 hours for the cluster, and < 10 minutes for vacuum and analyze.
