Help with the very basics Help with the very basics

Can someone please point me to a post or thread with the basics of Poker Tracker 3. I tried to use the free version, with the intent to purchase the real thing once I figured it out, but I was totally unable to make it work. I couldn't get any hands into the software, or have it compile data on the hands that I was playing. I am not even sure I know how to "turn it on"

Please help.

1a. open whatever poker client you play on (pokerstars, boss, whatever)
1b. open pt3
2. in pt3, select whatever site you are playing on in the import section (pokerstars, boss, whatever)
3. click auto import
4. play poker (you will see a big list of all the hands pt3 is auto importing while you play)

(i only know pokerstars, but other sites may be similar if its not working, i think you may have to go to the pokerstars lobby in the pokerstars client (where you already are when you open pokerstars) and click on options (i think) and then click on hand histories (or something) and then something like "save hand histories to disk" or "auto save hand histories" or some **** about saving hand histories so they automatically are sent to your computer (you could email stars support if you cant figure it out and they will know what youre talking about). then i think pt3 will know where they are sent and auto import them as you play. if pt3 doesnt know where they are, you would have to go to the configure tab or whatever its called and click on the three dots button and show it where pokerstars is sending the hand histories.

also, on pokertracker.com there is some useful intro stuff under the pt3 heading and under "documentation," but it still doesnt spell out exactly how to do everything. im sure tons of people download pt3 and then just say **** it and give up after not being able to make it work.

the end.

Thanks for the help.

If it is working, will the stats show up above each of the players I am playing against? Obviously there will be no stats when we start, as I have no hands imported yet, but will they update along the way?

I play on Full Tilt Poker. I am not sure if that makes a difference.

stats showing up above each player's name is what the hud does. below the auto import buttons is the "start hud" button. as you import hands they update. the section about the hud in the documentation section on the pt website is one of the more useful sections.

I need a lot of help with this too. I tried what you said, but it doesn't seem to be working...

Also, do I have to do something special if I am doing SNGs?

Please check out our Quick Start Guide and the rest of the Documentation.

SNGs should work fine - which site are you playing at?

If you're still stuck, please tell us exactly what is and isn't working.

Here's what I did

1) Opened FTP
2) Opened PTv3
3) Clicked on the Full Tilt option and chose Auto-import
4) Clicked Begin Auto-import and start HUD

I can't figure out why it wouldn't be working. Then again I am terrible at computer stuff

Ok, I think I got it figured out. I had to match up the hand history folders
