have tried 3 times to download the trial version of PT3.

following message comes up

"Error
Failed to see the logfile'C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\initdb/log'. Note! You must read/copy this logfile before you clock OK, or it will be automatically removed"

When I look at this file all it says is
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail."

I then click ok, and it kicks me out back to the start up screen.

so.... just wondering if I've missed something or need to do so that I can use the trial version of PT3.

Are you downloading the "with postgres" version?
If you already have postgres on your computer, you should install PT3 without postgres.

ok - have tried this... and it gets me to the "Configure PostgreSQL Server" box.

I enter the password, and the following error msg comes up
"Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration"

It sounds like the Postgres install got messed up somewhere. You should completely remove it. First, uninstall it via the add/remove programs section of your computer.

Then delete the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL directory (NOTE: this will delete any databases you may have had; given the thread I do not believe you had any but if you did, this will delete them and it will NOT be possible to undo this action. If you have databases you wish to maintain, do not complete this step).

Then click Start --> Run, type in 'cmd' and hit enter. Type in 'net user postgres /delete' and hit enter.

Then download and re-install from the WITH postgres version and see if that helps.
